Overview

AES was engaged directly by Downer NZ to undertake the remediation of cable trenches within the substation control room, which had been cross-contaminated during storms. The trenches, filled with silt and dust from historic flooding, needed to be cleared for the installation of new cables. Despite the complex nature of the project, AES ensured that the remediation was completed safely and efficiently, without disrupting the operations of the substation.

Key Challenges

• Live Power Lines: Remediation work had to be completed with live power in the trenches, requiring extreme care and specialised techniques to ensure worker safety.
